Québec, October 16, 2024 — Croisières AML is proud to announce having obtained the Biosphere certification, a globally recognized sustainable development certification.
Biosphere is the international sustainability management and certification system established by the Responsible Tourism Institute. This organization represents the largest international community of destinations and businesses focused on sustainable development.
For over 25 years, the Biosphere program has helped destinations, businesses and organizations define, organize and make visible their sustainable development goals. It offers a model for developing a personalized sustainable development plan, including an annual review process and external audits.
“We are very proud to obtain this certification as one of the leading tourism companies in Québec. This step is in line with our other commitments aimed at creating and promoting sustainable practices within the maritime and tourism sectors. I want to congratulate our employees whose daily efforts contribute to achieving our objectives. We also thank Destination Québec City for its constant support during the certification process,” said Yan Hamel, CEO of Croisières AML.
Other commitments to sustainable development
Since 2012, Croisières AML has been a member of Green Marine, the main environmental certification program for the North American maritime industry, which aims to improve environmental performance by targeting key issues related to the protection of biodiversity, air quality, water and soil, as well as community relations.
As a co-founding member of the Eco-Whale Alliance 15 years ago, Croisières AML targets the highest standards in eco-responsible whale excursion practices, thanks to about twenty performance indicators.
